A great honour for me as well as a big surprise – my Martial Eagle nesting material image, presented during our May 2013 camera club evening, was selected as winner in the senior club category in the monthly PSSA competition (for the month of May 2013).
How does the competition work? Each month, all the photographic/camera clubs of PSSA must select the best image presented during their meetings in the junior (1-3 stars) and a senior (4 stars and up) winner (at club level). Therefore, in order to qualify for entry into this monthly completion, the winning Junior and Senior image must be chosen by the judge of the evening for each club and these two images (junior and senior) are sent to PSSA to be judged for an overall winner. The 3 judges at the Bloemfontein Camera Club decided that Martial Eagle nesting material was the winner for the senior category and should therefore be sent to PSSA to be entered into their country-wide monthly competition. And believe me – there are outstanding photographers in the senior category of our club and just to be judged the winner at club level is already an exceptional achievement for me.
PSSA received another 35 entries /images from clubs around South Africa for the month of May and 3 judges (appointed by PSSA) decided that Martial Eagle nesting material should be the winner in the senior category. There is always a first for everything!
(the link will only be up for a month – until the next monthly competition)
Indeed a great honor – thanks everybody!
